Japanese Village was Founded around AD. 1624 located on the east bank of the Chao Phraya River. The land was granted to establish a community of houses in the vicinity. Originally this was just a small community. of the Japanese junk merchant. The head of the Japanese village at that time, Yamada Nagamasa, established a Japanese militia. and played a role in helping suppress rebellion as well as connecting trade relations between Thailand and Japan.

​Currently, the Japanese Village has been established as the Japanese Village Museum as part of the Ayutthaya Historical Study Center. Established by the Thai-Japanese Association in collaboration with Thai academics and Japanese academics.
