City Tour

Wat Phra Si Sanphet is the former royal temple of the ancient palace. Built around 1492 by King Ramathibodi II, the main points of interest are the three Lanka-shaped pagodas arranged along the east and west to hold the royal ashes. Wat Phra Si Sanphet is a palace temple with no monks residing during the Buddhist Lent. Therefore it became the prototype of Wat Phra Sri Rattana Satsadaram in the Grand Palace, which had no monks residing during the Buddhist Lent.
